Tape Hair Extensions are rapidly increasing in popularity but whilst being easy to apply, removals and refits can prove a messy affair. Walker Tape Co have developed a variety of replacement tapes and removers, each have different attributes that will appeal to a wide range of users.
Walker Tape Co state that all their solvents can be used to remove most tapes from the weft, However the Rapid Release is not safe on the skin and should only be used for cleaning excess tape residue from the tape hair after removal.
C22 Adhesive Remover is the number one seller world wide, its oil / citrus based and kinder to sensitive skin (patch test advised before use). Works great with any tape.
Action Adhesive Remover is a new product, it is the strongest skin safe solvent available from Walker Tape Co (patch test advised before use). It also has less oily residue than the C22. Will work with any tape.
Lace Release Adhesive Remover is a none oily alcohol based solvent that leaves very little residue and works best with Lace Front Support Tape. Its designed to release the adhesive or tape from the hair system and reduces the chance of damaging delicate lace or mesh frontals.
The estimated tape hold time is based on use with hair systems. When used to apply Tape Hair Extensions (sandwiching two pieces together) a tighter seal is formed and longer hold time can be expected. Oils break down the tape bond so clients with oily hair or those allowing conditioners and oils to touch the tape will likely experience shorter hold times.
The strongest tape is Ultra Hold, but removal can be kind of messy 2-6 weeks hold (longer when used in tape hair). Lace Front Support tape is Walkers best seller for hair systems, the average hold time is 2-4 weeks (longer when used in tape hair). For this you can use the Lace Release Adhesive Remover for an easy removal, its an alcohol based remover and it leaves very little residue. No Shine is also another popular tape with the same hold time but it is a little messier to clean up vs the Lace Front better to use C22 or Action removers.
Shampoo and Conditioner
Bond Breaker Shampoo is the most important product you can use to prepare for a new install. It breaks down adhesives, scrubs the skin and cleans the hair in one step. Not for daily use. When it comes to hair system bonding, nothing is more important than the cleaning in order to prepare for a new install. This shampoo has a gel texture with a small amount of grit to help with the adhesive residue removal.
‘Leave in Conditioner’ is a great new development from Walker Tape Co. The leave in conditioner is easy to use – just spray on as needed. It moisturises and detangles and helps keep your hair system looking and feeling healthy and soft. Colour Safe and None Oily Formula.
